Dressing up in Australia is fun, throwing a medieval party is more fun! Medieval costumes kind of bring something different out in everything and everyone. Medieval dress up themes create a sense of largesse - everything is big, everyone is bold, the people, the dress, the make-up, the food, everything! Think of King Henry or King George, think of Marie Antoinette or just think of how people dressed in the middle ages.  Very different to how we dress today! And think about how they celebrated, eating huge feasts and drinking wine from enormous goblets! Medieval times were large! And dressing up in a medieval costume, or holding a medieval theme costume party, is fab.

Is medieval cosplay okay for a child?

Most children wouldn’t quite get medieval cosplay but you can show them the medieval costumes online and ask what they think of them. Your children might surprise you and be fascinated by medieval times, although to be honest we think they would probably prefer a Disney character or something youthful and light. But ask them and show them the range. Medieval costumes are maybe better for adults of all ages.

When choosing a dress up theme, choose something that you are going to feel comfortable wearing, that makes a statement, that fuels your creativity and your imagination, and also that is not going to cost you a fortune. You might wear your dress up costume time and time again, and we hope you do, but it may only be worn once. So either be smart when making it, or be clever when choosing online.

Online price are usually pretty good but do comparisons. A medieval costume is not that easy to make on your own, unless you are great with a sewing machine. We would love to see your medieval costumes though; medieval dress up is a great them. Have fun!
